Merry Byles-Daly:  Fourth and Fifth Grades
Along with teaching for seventeen years in the Grass Valley School District, Merry Byles-Daly has enjoyed teaching pre-school through fourth grade in New Jersey, Japan, and Peru. As a fourth/fifth grade teacher at Grass Valley Charter School, her classroom vibrates with lively art projects, hands-on math and science, and a passionate love of literacy.

She is fluent in Spanish, and she loves world travel, biking and kayaking, relaxing with a good novel, and hiking by the river. She has taught pre-school through fourth grade, and is the recipient of the "Teachers Who Make a Difference Award", the "Partners in Education Award", and "The Nevada

County Teacher of the Year Award".

She came to Grass Valley Charter School because of her love of project-based learning: "In these days of demanding state standards, project-based learning can instill a passionate love of learning, while still meeting rigorous academic goals." Merry also believes that "the design principles that all our students learn, along with the character education and the culture of quality that permeate our school, make a profound difference in children’s lives."
