Alan Rosenbloom:  Third and Fourth Grade
For just about thirty years, Alan has been teaching in multi-graded classrooms. Pleased to join our GVCS staff in 2007, Alan previously taught in Sierra County and in Quito, Ecuador.

Throughout his career Alan served as a mentor teacher, a BTSA support provider, a PAR consulting teacher,  teacher association president, National Blue Ribbon School delegate, and as an Area III Writing Project Teacher Consultant.  Sierra County named Alan as a Teacher Who Makes a Difference.  A certified PSIA Level 2 instructor, Alan teaches cross-country skiing at Royal Gorge.  It seems he teaches even on the weekends.

Alan grew up in Chicago and Los Angeles.  He attended college in Berkeley and earned his teaching certificate in San Francisco. He decided early on that teaching was his vehicle to quieter neighborhoods, and has lived in or near Nevada County since 1979, when he moved here with his wife Deborah  (who also teaches here at Charter).  His two children were born and raised in Nevada County.  His son Nate attended kindergarten at the Bell Hill campus.  Nate, like his sister Ana, is an NU graduate.  Both kids currently call the Bay Area home.

Besides skiing, Alan enjoys bicycling, hiking, camping, swimming in the river, kayaking, gardening, keeping his old house inhabitable, reading, and participating in a book club. His only regret is that he lacks more hours in a day to pursue these other interests.
